Sadly,
there are millions of homeless cats in the U.S. awaiting forever homes –
cats that will never leave the alley, the garbage dump, the shelter.
Something needs to be done on a large scale to educate the public about
the plight of homeless cats, hence…National Cat Day! On October 25, 2008,
hundreds of shelters and businesses around the country will be hosting
National Cat Day events to help the unwanted cats in their own communities
find lasting and loving homes.
The Great American Cat Show is every cat lovers opportunity to not only do
something fun with your own cat and win amazing prizes but to help save a
life! What could be better than that?
National Cat Day is the brain child of animal behaviorist, author, pet
friendly interior designer and founder of the Animal Miracle Foundation
(home to National Cat Day), Colleen Paige. National Cat Day is just one of
many lifesaving holidays created by Colleen Paige. The vision for The
Great American Show at National Cat Day 2008, being that it’s so close to
Halloween, is to be a fun and whimsical event with costumes galore and a
V.I.P. after party. This event will include the attendance of celebrities
and special animal personalities alike, including exhibitor booths by
local and national businesses. The goal is to make this the biggest cat
event of the year! The National Cat Day website receives over 8.5 million
visitors a month!
